As a young woman, she thought she had paranormal powers, but gave them up, for fear something might go dreadfully wrong. Instead, she visited mysterious places belonging to ancient peoples and hiked the Himalayas. She had children who weren’t that mysterious, but a great pleasure nonetheless. At a certain point, Delores Hawk was taken in hand by a young girl who spoke knowingly about wizards, although the Hawk (as she is called) had stopped thinking about such things. “I must write this story down,” she said. Only the girl did not tell her the story. She had to discover it for herself. She is still discovering it.
